A premium rechargeable hearing aid that automatically focuses on the person you are facing, so the conversation you want stays clear even in a noisy room.
ReSound Sensia is a premium hearing aid family designed to focus on the person you are facing, rather than simply the loudest voice in the room. It succeeds ReSound Vivia and keeps that model's small rechargeable design while making its strongest speech-in-noise processing automatic. We fit and program ReSound Sensia at all three Audiology Doctors of New Jersey offices.
Many AI hearing aids separate speech from noise well, but in a busy restaurant they can lock onto a loud talker two tables away. Sensia addresses this with a system ReSound calls Intelligent All-Around. AcoustIQ, the sound classification system, reads your environment and decides which features to engage. A four-microphone beamformer, which narrows the hearing aids' focus toward the front, favors speech in the direction you are looking. Deep Neural Network (DNN) denoising, AI trained on speech, then reduces the competing sound around that person. In testing validated by the independent Hörzentrum Oldenburg, Sensia made the talker in front most audible for 80% of users compared with another premium DNN hearing aid.
The biggest change from Vivia is automation. Vivia's strongest noise processing required switching to a separate program; on the premium Sensia 9 receiver-in-ear model, it engages on its own.
Sensia suits people who want strong help in noisy settings without managing programs or apps, and it offers a CROS option for single-sided hearing loss and a bimodal model for Cochlear Nucleus implant users. There are trade-offs: you get the most benefit when you face the person you want to hear, the strongest processing waits about a minute to confirm a noisy conversation before engaging, and music listening uses a separate program you select. The automatic DNN is also limited to the Sensia 9 receiver-in-ear model; Sensia 7 offers it through a manual program, and custom styles do not include it.
As an independent practice, our audiologists fit every major manufacturer, so we will weigh these details against your own listening needs.
The first step is a comprehensive hearing evaluation, about 45 to 60 minutes, showing how you hear across frequencies and how well you follow speech in noise. Dr. Annette Mazevski and Dr. Scott Yerdon see patients in Chatham, Hackettstown, and Livingston. Call Audiology Doctors of New Jersey at 973-636-4327 to book at whichever office is most convenient.
